About OptStudent.com
OptStudent.com was created to promote the field of optometry by providing a centralized, all-in-one resource for Pre-Optometry and Optometry Students on the web. As a former Pre-Optometry student, I scoured the internet for optometry school resources only to go to many different websites to get information; but now, with OptStudent.com, I hope that finding information about optometry school will not be as difficult as it was for me.

For now, this site is focused for pre-optometry students, but as I continue my optometric education and discover more handy tips I learn on the way, I will include more and more resources for optometry students as well.

Also, before using this website, you must agree to the terms here (you can also find the link at the bottom of every page).

About the Webmaster

My name is Chris, an Optometry Student at the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO), class of 2010. I finished my undergrad studies at the University of California at Davis with a B.S. in Anthropology. At Davis, I was involved with Sigma Mu Delta Premedical Fraternity as the Community Service Chair and President. I also completed the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. Instead of going straight into active duty, the Army granted me permission to continue my education so I can become an Army Optometrist. I was also fortunate enough to earn a 4-year scholarship with the Army Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP), which provides a monthly stipend and pays for tuition, books, equipment. For more info on this, check out the HPSP link on the top menu bar.
