Here are the pics of the VOSH trip to Tijuana!
We had some tequila at a bar in Ensenada:
This is the waiting area...we helped a couple hundred of patients in two days.

I've been on break this past week so there isn't much going on. BUT! I did forget to tell you all that I went to a
VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) trip on Nov 19-21. We conducted vision screenings for hundreds of poor people in Tijuana (just south of the California/Mexico border) and gave brand new glasses to individuals who needed them. It was an awesome and very humbling experience. I don't have pictures that I took on my own, but here is an image of Tijuana that looks very much like the area we were working in:

I'm currently waiting for somebody to send me pictures...please come back soon for more pics!!!

I just learned that 75% of the growth of the human eye occurs by age 3. Maybe that's why babies/kids have these big eyes relative to their face size!

Wow, what a week so far. I had Anatomy & Physiology on Monday, then Optics just earlier this morning. A&P was somewhat hard, but Optics was wayyyy tougher! There are seriously way too many equations to memorize. I forgot how crappy finals can be. And the sad part is, things are going to get tougher!!! But what keeps me motivated is that moment I hand in my final on Friday - oh wow...that will feel great. Wish me luck - two down, two to go!

Here at SCCO, we have this period before finals called "reading week." Reading week started this past Monday Oct 30, since classes ended on Friday Oct 27. It's basically a time for the students to relax a bit and also have some prep time for finals. By the way, here is my finals schedule (next week):
Monday: Anatomy & Physiology
Tuesday: Optics
Thursday: Biochemistry
Friday: Visual Psychophysics
So as you can see, the finals are pretty spread out - so reading week gives plenty of time to relax. I myself just started studying yesterday. Once again, time management is key because it's easy to get caught up in relaxing due to this long gap between classes and finals.
Until next post...see you soon!
