A preview of April
March 28, 2007The Edison and Neurophysiology
March 21, 2007
This past weekend (last Friday), I went to a downtown LA lounge called The Edison. It's a very unique and swanky venue inspired by the flapper/speakeasy era of the 1920s (or around that time). There are also performances that take place there, from live music to dancing performances by these "flapper" girls. It's pretty entertaining to watch the dancers actually - they're pretty good. If you're in the LA area, I highly recommend that you and your friends go there if you're into the lounge/bar scene. Or just go there anyway to check it out - it's worth the visit because of how interesting it is. Here are some photos of the place:
Spring quarter
March 12, 2007
It's now the spring quarter and it is our first quarter where we start to learn a lot of hands-on procedures. So far this past week we learned how to hand neutralize a spherical lens. In layman's terms, it basically means that we learned how to figure out the prescription of a non-toric lens (a toric lens is used with prescriptions for astigmatism) using a trial lens set. And this week we're going to learn how to find the prescription of a toric lens.
Santa Barbara and wine tasting trip

Here are pictures of the trip that my girlfriend and I took to Santa Barbara and the wine country nearby. We met up with my friend Jeff (who is also a first year) and his girlfriend.
