Winter break

December 19, 2008
I know it's been a while since the last update, but there really hasn't been much going on, as implied from the last entry...pretty much just one exam per week in the past three weeks, and a Christmas party this past Tuesday and another one coming up on Saturday evening. Winter break is officially starting this Saturday evening for me since I have clinic this Saturday all day. No big plans for the break really, except just hanging out with my family and continuing to look for wedding venues (the latter takes a lot of time actually, and for those of you that are married you probably know what I'm talking about!). I also hopefully will start studying for boards since once we come back, it will be difficult to study for boards on top of studying for lecture exams. Until next blog, Merry Christmas! I'll probably post another blog during the break before New Year's but Happy New Year also just in case!

Laid back days (somewhat)

The next three weeks are pretty much laid back since we only have one exam and one lab quiz per week, and I am not studying for boards yet so there's not much going on besides that. I think it's kind of ironic to say that one exam per week is laid back but it's true since at this point we are so accustomed to taking multiple exams within a short period of time, so one exam in a week is totally fine with me. I must say however that the three classes we're taking this quarter seem pretty tough - actually I can say that Strabismus/Amblyopia Management is super tough since I didn't feel so great coming out of that first exam this morning. Then Ocular Disease III involves a lot of neuro-ophthalmology and that's going to be a tough exam coming next Tuesday.

So after the three weeks, we have two weeks of winter break and then in January I plan to start studying for the National Boards Part I (which is in March). That's pretty much it really for this month! During the break I don't think I'll be doing anything special as far as traveling since my fiancée and I are trying to save money for our wedding - it's a long ways from now (it will be right after graduation) but since she's the only one with a job and with my meager Army scholarship stipend, there's only so much we can save up. We are also trying to look for wedding venues around Orange County during the break - if you know of any good ones to recommend let me know!
